There's a prison where they have thrown away the keys...

(Well, all but one!)

Hinseberg is Sweden’s largest women’s prison where more than 100 women are serving long sentences in this high security facility. In the 1970’s it was common for staff to carry 20 keys. And now there’s only 1. The electro mechanical features of Cliq means that the 1,800 separate locks can all be opened with 1 key. “If a key is lost or falls into the wrong hands, I just erase the that key in the master key system and reprogramme it so it doesn’t work” enthuses Kjell Ekland, facilities manager.

And what’s more, each key can be individually programmed for it’s owner’s responsibilities and usage, so nobody is allowed into areas where they aren’t supposed to be.
